The River trail is one of the great things to do in Fredericksburg, Texas. The trail was planned in the year 1970. The trail is made for day use and is a 10 inch wide walking trail and biking trail. It is open for public use. If you didn't bring a boat or a bike there are boats and bicycle rentals available at either Louise Hays Park or Kerrville-Schreiner Park during the peak seasons.
The River Trail Segmentshave a few parts the first part is Riverside Nature Center to Louise Hays Park and extends for 0.7 miles from the Tranquility Island at Louise Hays Park. They also have the Riverside Nature Center to Lowry Park with is a 0.2 mile long segment. Enjoy the Louise Hays Park to G Street which is a little bit over a mile long. Spend some time on the G Street to Kerrville-Schreiner Park which is a little bit over 2 miles long. The Lowry Park to the Dietert Center is about a half a mile long. G Street to Schreiner University is one mile long and is still under construction.
There are a few things to keep in mind while of the River trail. The first thing that guests should keep in mind is that the trail should only be used during daylight hours. It is open from dawn to dusk. Visitors to the park are supposed to stay on the tail. Motorized vehicles are to be used in the designated parking areas and roadways. Pets are welcome but dogs do need to be leashed at all times. Remember that if you bring a pet you need to clean up after them. Make sure to stay clear of the poison ivy.
